The guest speaker at today's meeting was Lisa Rojas, the executive director of the Natomas Schools Foundation >>link. She told how the foundation is adjusting to trying times by continuing to apply for grants, to target support for programs in the school district, including science programs, music and athletics. She also talked about efforts to strengthen a HOSTS-type program in each of the school, recruiting volunteer community members to mentor students who are behind in their reading skills.
Topics of the discussion at the meeting included an update on the Kiwanis regional conference, progress of the Inderkum High School Key Club and discussion of possible holiday service projects.
